1. velvet everything
The totally obvious choice for any holiday gathering, but hey there’s nothing wrong with that! Try choosing a fresher silhouette (like a jumpsuit) or an interesting color (like that burnt mustard below) and you won’t feel just like everyone else sporting velvet.
2. box clutches
They just look so fancy! Their hard structure feels expensive and really makes a statement.
3. sheer embellished tops
This is a really trendy choice this year. I love it with just a bralette underneath but if you’re shopping more for an office function, trade it for a cami instead. It looks super super chic and I guarantee you’ll look like the coolest girl in the room. Pair it with any bottoms, but I think my top choice would be with a pair of culottes + some sock booties!
4. pleated midi skirt
Something about a pleated midi skirt just screams classiness but without looking too old/traditional. Definitely pair this with heels if you’re going to a party to create more height and sex it up a bit since the skirt hits long. I love front-tucking a chunkier sweater into these, but they also look great with a blouse fully tucked.
5. tulle skirt
It’s not a proper party without some tulle! Classic party skirt, everyone will compliment it guaranteed. Pair with simple everything else to balance all the texture.
6. plaid mini skirt
The cutest option for a holiday function, the plaid mini skirt has that girl-next-door factor that never fails. Pair it with a tucked turtleneck sweater, tights, and booties and you will look adorable as ever!
7. jazzy shoes
There are so many fun options for shoes this time of year – you can’t go wrong with any of them! It’s always fun to have a more simple outfit but jazz it up with the accessories.
8. fun tights
Whether you’re trying to save a buck and re-wear a dress you already have or if you just like to keep it simple and dress your ensemble up with unique accessories, a fun pair of tights is a great option. My favorite that I stumbled upon this year are the ones with some sort of detailing up center of the back legs – so unexpected and cute + they make a grand exit from any convo/interaction.
