Hue of the Month | a Deep Navy Blue

Happy New Year! For January’s Hue of the Month, I’ve chosen a deep navy blue, a beautiful all-season color. However I tend to prefer it in the colder months since it’s less harsh than black on my pale winter skin. It also looks great with any winter whites you have in your closet! Winter white is super trendy these days too.
A lot of people pair navy with coral, but this combo feels really outdated to me (try corals with a light grey instead). I think the updated refresh is an antique pink, which is basically just any pink pieces that are more muted or have a worn-in feel.

My favorite color pairing with navy is a mustard yellow – that’s why this beautiful floral dress (only $24! linked above) really stood out to me. I don’t usually go for floral but, combined with this beautiful color combo, the lovely silhouette of this piece + the fact that it’s kind of season-less really made it catch my eye. I paired it with white sneakers to keep it casual. It’s a little low in the cleavage area for it to be work-appropriate, but I can see this being a weekend-repeat once these chilling temps ease up.
I surprisingly don’t really have a preference for specific pieces for this hue. Navy looks good on everyone and any piece is flattering in navy. Though I will say a: 1 – navy faux fur coat; 2 – long, simple navy dress; and 3 – navy velvet booties all feel really fresh right now. But this is a timeless color classified as a neutral, so you really can’t go wrong with it. Just be careful with matching up navys if you are ever wearing multiple pieces at once, it can sometimes get kind of tricky (just make sure they have similar tones – some lean more green/teal and others more purple/indigo).

I hope you enjoy styling navy as much as I do! Scroll below to shop some of my favorite pieces to incorporate this beautiful hue into your wardrobe this season.
